Georgian parliament receives programme of candidate for PM
The Georgian parliament has received a programme of a candidate for prime minister.
Deputy Speaker of the Georgian parliament Giorgi Volski said that the programme of the candidate for Georgian prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the list of candidates for ministers have been submitted to the parliament for consideration, TASS reports.
Volski made these remarks at a parliamentary meeting.
“The candidate for prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze presented the document on the composition of the Georgian government to the Georgian parliament to express confidence and attached the governmental programme “For the creation of a European country,” Volski said, reading out an appeal from the “Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia” ruling party.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said that the committees will begin considering the programme of the candidate for prime minister from February 5 and will hold meetings with candidates for the new cabinet of ministers. Voting is expected to be held on February 8.
Former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili was elected chairman of the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party. Kobakhidze, who previously headed the party, was named a candidate for prime minister.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Irakli Chikovani will replace Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze, Kobakhidze told reporters.
