Georgian top lawmaker accuses European Commission of hypocrisy
Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, has sharply criticized the European Commission (EC) in response to its recent report on Ukraine and Moldova, accusing Brussels of hypocrisy and double standards. He argued that the report overlooks significant issues that persist in both countries.
Papuashvili expressed concern over what he described as selective scrutiny, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
“This issue concerns all countries, yet for some reason it was excluded from consideration regarding Ukraine and Moldova—two countries where this problem is particularly evident. Let us recall the corruption scandals in Ukraine involving high-ranking officials. It is also widely known where Moldova ranks in all corruption indexes,” Papuashvili said.
The Speaker also drew attention to the closure of television channels in both countries, noting that authorities acted against media outlets that did not align with their interests.
