German firm suspected of supplying fuel for Russian bombers
The joint venture of the German company Wintershall Dea could supply gas condensate to Gazprom, which could be used in jet fuel during the bombing of Ukrainian cities.
The report came on November 6 as part of the investigation of the ZDF TV channel and the weekly magazine Der Spiegel, according to European Pravda.
The investigation claims that Wintershall Dea sells gas condensate to Gazprom, in turn, the Russian company supplies fuel to air bases whose pilots are accused of war crimes in Ukraine.
The Kremlin-controlled Gazprom is Russia's most important jet fuel producer and partner with German oil and gas company Wintershall Dea, ZDF TV channel reported. Wintershall Dea operates gas fields in Western Siberia jointly with Gazprom and produces large amounts of gas condensate.
According to Wintershall Dea, the condensate is transferred to Gazprom "directly from the well." Wintershall Dea acknowledges that it has no influence on the further processing of the produced gas condensate. It cannot guarantee that it will only be used for civilian purposes, the company says.
Studies show that gas condensate is fundamentally suitable for the production of aviation fuel. Der Spiegel and ZDF have been able to trace jet fuel deliveries from Gazprom's Omsk refinery to at least nine Russian military airfields near the Ukrainian border. In particular, to Morozovsk and Voronezh.
Sukhoi bombers are deployed there, which are associated with attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine. Aircraft from these bases reportedly bombed civilians, in particular in Chernihiv and Mariupol.
