German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys arrived in Kyiv on April 1 for an official visit, reaffirming their countries' strong support for Ukraine.

"Due to the deadlock between the US and Russia, it is absolutely crucial to... show that we... stand by Ukraine and support it even more now," Baerbock remarked on her 11th visit to Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media.

Upon arrival, Baerbock announced additional humanitarian aid for Ukraine, amounting to 130 million euros (approximately $140 million). She was welcomed at the train station by her Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Budrys also expressed his country's continued support, stating on X, "Arrived to free Kyiv to express Lithuania’s unwavering support to the brave Ukrainian nation. We will continue standing by your side in your fight for freedom and sovereignty."

Both Germany and Lithuania have been vital allies to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. Berlin has provided the largest volumes of military aid among all European partners, while Lithuania is one of the leading countries in terms of GDP contributions to Ukraine's defense.

In Kyiv, Baerbock is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian politicians and civil society representatives, where discussions will focus on Ukraine’s progress toward EU membership. The Foreign Ministry also confirmed that they will address Ukraine's ongoing efforts to defend itself against Russian aggression.

Earlier in March, Baerbock announced that Germany would soon deliver new batches of weapons to Ukraine, strengthening the country's ability to counter Russian attacks. She also welcomed the Bundestag budget committee's decision to allocate 3 billion euros in additional military aid to Ukraine for 2025.
