Germany declares Ukraine bankrupt Amid suspension of foreign debt payments
02 August 2024 12:02
Germany has declared Ukraine bankrupt following the recent enactment of a law by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that suspends payments on foreign debt.
Kim Dotcom, founder and former CEO of the defunct file-hosting service Megaupload, commented on the situation via the social network X, describing the move as indicative of Ukraine's financial insolvency, Caliber.Az reports.
Dotcom highlighted the irony of Zelenskyy’s previous appeals for international financial support, noting that the suspension of debt payments signals a severe economic crisis.
"Remember Zelenskyy asking other nations for credit? He just signed a law suspending Ukraine’s external debt payments. Ukraine is bankrupt," Dotcom posted.
