Germany provides €44 billion in aid to Ukraine, second only to United States
Germany has committed a total of approximately €44 billion in aid to Ukraine since the start of the conflict, making it the second-largest donor after the United States, according to Steffen Hebestreit, the official spokesperson for the German government.
In a statement to the press, Hebestreit highlighted that this substantial sum covers not only military support but also financial aid and the costs associated with hosting and assisting Ukrainian refugees. “€44 billion is an enormous amount,” Hebestreit remarked, emphasizing that this commitment places Germany in a leading position, second only to the U.S. in terms of financial aid to Kyiv. He also reaffirmed that both Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the German government have consistently emphasized their ongoing support for Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Germany has also been a key supplier of military equipment to Ukraine, ranking just behind the United States. However, under the recently discussed 2025 budget, Germany plans to allocate approximately €4 billion for military aid, a significant reduction compared to the €8 billion allocated for 2024. This budget, however, is still pending approval by the Bundestag.
Despite the scale of international support, Russian officials have repeatedly insisted that the continued supply of weapons to Ukraine will not weaken Russia’s resolve nor alter the outcome of the special military operation.
