Germany should decide by itself whether to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, says British PM
The British prime minister's office has said that Britain will not tell its allies how they support Ukraine.
There is growing pressure on Germany to allow Leopard 2 main battle tanks to be sent to Ukraine from both its and its allies' stocks, Evropeyskaya Pravda reports.
But British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has decided not to interfere in the debate.
Meanwhile, Sunak’s spokesman said: "As the Foreign Secretary and others have said, we would like to see additional support for Ukraine. What we are not going to do is dictate to other countries exactly what they should or should not provide - it should first and foremost be the decision of those countries."
"We strive to work with our allies as coherently as possible. Our approach is paying off," the spokesman added.
Earlier, the UK promised to send Ukraine 14 of its Challenger 2 tanks.
