Jordan moves to reduce energy consumption amid Middle East conflict
Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan has issued a directive calling for the rationalisation of energy consumption and government spending amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Al Arabiya reports.
The directive includes a ban on the use of government vehicles for personal purposes and outside working hours, as well as a prohibition on the use of air conditioners and heaters in all government institutions and agencies.
Jordan is also suspending all foreign travel by officials, delegations, and committees for two months. Exceptions may be granted only for compelling reasons and with prior approval from the prime minister.
Additionally, the government is halting the reception of official delegations and reducing expenditure on banquets.
