Governor of Russia's Kursk hospitalised after traffic accident
Governor of Russia's Kursk Region Alexander Khinshtein was caught in a road traffic accident.
According to the Russian Telegram channel Mash, the incident occurred while Khinshtein was travelling in an eight-seat minibus. At a bend in the road, the driver lost control of the vehicle: the minibus skidded on a slippery surface, was thrown onto the roadside, and overturned.
The preliminary cause of the accident is believed to be a failure to maintain a safe distance. Sources say the vehicle travelling ahead of the governor’s minibus braked sharply to make a left turn without using a turn signal. As a result, Khinshtein’s driver did not have time to brake and attempted to avoid the obstacle, clipping the roadside and losing control of the vehicle.
Alexander Khinshtein sustained bruises and was hospitalised. The driver of the official’s vehicle may be found responsible for the accident.
