Greece promises support for Armenia on all issues

Armenian Ambassador to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan has met with First Deputy Speaker of the Greek Parliament Yiannis Plakiotakis.

The ambassador expressed gratitude for the creation of the Greece-Armenia Friendship Group in the Greek Parliament, emphasising the productive activity of the two friendship groups and the effective use of the tools of parliamentary diplomacy, the Armenian embassy in Greece said, Caliber.Az reports citing the Armenian media.

The ambassador informed about the latest regional processes, the current negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasising the EU’s role in establishing peace and stability in the region.

As for the bilateral relations, Mkrtchyan emphasised the importance of giving a new impetus to economic relations and intensifying mutual visits.

In turn, Plakiotakis noted the high level of cooperation between the two countries and emphasised that the Greek government is ready to support Armenia on all issues.

As for the regional events, he confirmed the position of Greece, expressing unequivocal support for Armenia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Moreover, he expressed satisfaction with Armenia’s steadfast support in the Cyprus issue,” the statement said.
