Gunfire heard in Yerevan: Patrol officer stops mass youth beating
On February 23, around 10:30, an officer of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs Guard, while on patrol near the National Library of Armenia, observed more than twenty young people beating another youth and intervened to prevent further escalation.
The police guard intervened to prevent further escalation, firing two warning shots into the air in accordance with the law, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
One individual was detained and taken to the Central Division of Community Police. Authorities are taking measures to locate the other participants involved in the incident.
Earlier, on February 18, gunfire in the Ajapnyak administrative district of Yerevan resulted in seven people being hospitalised at Armenia Medical Centre, with one victim later dying in hospital.
