Hundreds of Russians face months-long wait for Schengen visas PHOTO

13 February 2026 14:00

Hundreds of Russian travellers are facing delays in obtaining Schengen visas and travelling to Spain due to a major technical fault at the Spanish visa centre in Moscow.

Users’ personal accounts on the visa centre’s website have been inaccessible for several days, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

Isolated incidents of similar disruptions were noted as far back as two weeks ago.

Tourists attempting to complete their visa application forms, submit them, or book appointments are being logged out of their accounts, creating long queues for appointments.

Waiting times, which usually range from one to two months, could now stretch to three months.

Some travellers have reported that changing their IP address can temporarily restore access to their accounts, but this workaround does not guarantee uninterrupted service while completing applications.

The visa centre has acknowledged the technical problems affecting users’ personal accounts and said it is working to resolve them.
