Hungarian PM leaves for Washington, set to meet with Trump PHOTO
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has departed for Washington, the US, where he will meet with US President Donald Trump.
Before departure, Orbán stated on Facebook that President Trump's re-election has opened up new prospects for Hungarian-American relations, as per Caliber.Az.
“The first ten months of this year were the first stage in which we fixed everything that Hungary and Hungarian-American relations suffered during the Biden administration. Politically-based sanctions have disappeared, American support to NGOs attacking Hungary has been stopped, and we can travel visa-free to the United States again. So the first stage is now closed,” Orbán posted.
According to the Hungarian prime minister, his visit to the US should open a “new chapter” in relations between Washington and Budapest.
“Today we travel to Washington to open a new chapter in Hungarian-American relations with President Trump,” Orbán said.
He noted that Hungary aims to establish a strategic cooperation with the US that includes energy links, investments, defence cooperation and negotiations on the post-Russian-Ukrainian war world.
“We are working on an agreement that is based on mutual benefits and is for the benefit of all Hungarian people.”
“Off to Washington! Off to work!” he added.
