IDF: Houthis launch over 40 ballistic missiles at Israel, causing casualties, damage VIDEO
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have reported that since the onset of the ongoing conflict, the Houthis in Yemen have fired approximately 40 ballistic missiles towards Israel, with the majority being intercepted by Israeli air defences.
“Israeli air defences successfully intercepted the vast majority of the missiles,” said an IDF spokesperson, Caliber.Az reports, referencing Israeli media.
“However, there was one instance where a missile was not intercepted, and two other incidents of partial interceptions occurred, leading to damage and injuries within Israel.”
The IDF noted that some of the missiles fired by the Houthis fell short of reaching their intended targets, while the majority were neutralized before causing significant harm.
In addition to the missile attacks, the IDF revealed that more than 320 drones have been launched at Israel from Yemen during the conflict. Over 100 of these drones were intercepted by Israeli ground-based air defence systems, fighter jets, and helicopters. Furthermore, several drones were downed by the Israeli Navy.
However, the IDF has also confirmed two cases where drones successfully struck targets in Israel, causing both casualties and damage. “While most drones either landed in open areas or were intercepted, there have been two instances of effective drone impacts,” the spokesperson added.
The Iranian-backed Houthi forces have escalated their missile and drone assaults on Israel over the past month, though there has been a recent lull in such attacks.
In a statement, the IDF described the Houthi regime as a key player in the Iranian axis, which is said to be undermining regional stability and threatening global freedom of navigation. “The Houthi regime is a central branch of the Iranian axis and plays a significant role in destabilizing the region,” the IDF stressed.
These attacks come amid continued tensions in the Middle East, with the Houthis maintaining their stance against Israel and the broader international community.
