Ile-Alatau National Park fire sparks emergency response in Almaty
A fire broke out in the Maloalmatinsky forestry area of Almaty’s Ile-Alatau National Park, the press service of the Kazavialesokhrana State Enterprise told Kazakh media.
Bekzat Baishalov, head of the Almaty aviation department of Kazavialesokhrana, stated that firefighters are actively working at the site.
“The fire is of moderate intensity. Operational extinguishing efforts and continuous monitoring are underway. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and relevant services continue their investigation,” he said.
According to Kazavialesokhrana, a total of eight pieces of special equipment, 25 personnel, and a firefighting helicopter have been deployed to combat the blaze.
Staff from Kazavialesokhrana and the Ile-Alatau National Park, together with Almaty city emergency services, are taking all necessary measures to contain and extinguish the fire. The helicopter provides air support while fire trucks from all involved units operate on the ground.
The press service added that the fire was successfully localised at 14:20, affecting an estimated area of 1.7 hectares.
