Imports from Russia to Germany down by 91 per cent
Since the Ukraine war outbreak, Russia has become significantly less important for German foreign trade.
In this February, the monthly cost of all goods imported from Russia to Germany was only about 300 million euros [$330 million], which is 91 per cent lower than a year earlier, Tagesschau reports, citing the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden.
In particular, Russian energy supplies, which played an important role in trade between the two countries before the outbreak of the war on February 24, 2022, collapsed.
Russian oil and gas imports fell from 2.2 billion euros [$2.4 billion] in February 2022 to only 4.2 million euros [$4.6 million] a year later (a 99.8 per cent drop).
Imports of coke and refined petroleum products fell from 353 million euros [$389 million] to 30 million euros [$33 million] (minus 91.4 per cent).
Coal imports fell by 92.5 per cent to 26 million euros [$28.6 million].
In general, Russia has dropped from 11th to 46th place among the most important suppliers of goods to Germany.
