The Independent: Kyiv could run out of long-range missiles in days amid US aid freeze
Ukraine will run out of vital long-range defence missiles within days after the US suspended military aid to Kyiv, according to an article published by the British newspaper The Independent.
Some sources told The Independent that “Ukraine’s supplies of US Patriot missiles could leave it unable to defend itself in a matter of days.”
“The missiles are stockpiled outside of the country and only brought in a few days before being used,” the newspaper writes, adding that US President Donald Trump’s “decision to stop all military aid means those in transit to Ukraine could be blocked.”
Prior to this, retired Ukrainian general and former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine Mykola Malomuzh said that Kyiv would face serious arms problems in the coming weeks due to the suspension of military aid from the US.
Notably, President Donald Trump has ordered a suspension of all U.S. military aid to Ukraine following a contentious meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Oval Office. The decision affects over $1 billion in arms and ammunition that had been slated for delivery to Ukraine. The White House stated that the pause is intended to pressure Ukraine into demonstrating a commitment to peace negotiations with Russia.
