Indian PM expresses concern over attack on Putin’s residence

30 December 2025 13:03

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed concern over the attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence on December 29.

In a post on his X social media page, Modi wrote:

"Deeply concerned by reports of the targeting of the residence of the President of the Russian Federation. Ongoing diplomatic efforts offer the most viable path toward ending hostilities and achieving peace. We urge all concerned to remain focused on these efforts and to avoid any actions that could undermine them."

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed Kyiv had used 91 long-range drones overnight on Putin’s state residence in Novgorod, adding that all were intercepted and destroyed and that “there were no reports of casualties or damage as a result of the attack.”

He warned that “Russia's negotiating position will be revised” due to “the final degeneration of the criminal Kyiv regime, which has switched to a policy of state terrorism.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has denied Russian allegations that Kyiv launched a drone attack on one of President Vladimir Putin’s residences, accusing Moscow of attempting to derail peace talks.

Zelenskyy dismissed the claim as “typical Russian lies,” pointing out that Russia had previously targeted government buildings in Kyiv. He added on X: “It is critical that the world doesn't stay silent now. We cannot allow Russia to undermine the work on achieving a lasting peace.”
