Drone strike on Putin’s estate prompts Russia to shift negotiating stance, top diplomat says
Russia will maintain its participation in diplomatic negotiations over Ukraine, despite a recent drone attack targeting President Vladimir Putin’s state residence, the country's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
However, Lavrov emphasized that Moscow’s negotiating position would be reassessed, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The top diplomat revealed that the attempted strike involved 91 drones and targeted the presidential residence in Novgorod Oblast.
“This action was carried out amid intensive negotiations between Russia and the United States over resolving the Ukrainian conflict… Considering the complete degeneration of the criminal Kyiv regime, which has resorted to a policy of state terrorism, Russia’s negotiating position will be reassessed,” Lavrov stated.
The minister further warned that Russia would not leave the drone strike unanswered, noting that Moscow has already identified potential targets and timing for a retaliatory response.
