International expert holds training for Azerbaijani healthcare workers PHOTO

The Azerbaijani Health Ministry is taking the necessary steps to ensure the financial sustainability of the healthcare system and provide citizens with qualitative medical services.

In this regard, the working group of the "Health Transformation Centre" regularly considers the work methods based on international best practices, the ministry told Caliber.Az.

Thus, a professor of health economics and policy at the universities of Newcastle and Bologna, a well-known specialist in health economics and public policy, Francesco Paolucci, arrived in Azerbaijan at the Health Ministry’s invitation.

During the visit, two-day training was organised for Azerbaijani healthcare workers. The officials of the Health Ministry, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, the Finance Ministry, the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy, the ASAN service, the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance of the Azerbaijani Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB), as well as experts in the private insurance sector attended the event.

Professor Paolucci, who delivered a report on "Transformation and effective financing of healthcare", shared the international experience in transforming healthcare, important principles of the economic specifics of healthcare financing, as well as the optimal use of various types of insurance in this sphere with the training participants.
Moreover, the professor has been analysing the effective financing of global health systems for more than 20 years, which is necessary to ensure the availability of medical services and has reached important achievements in this sphere.

The report of the well-known expert aroused great interest among the participants.

In conclusion, the views on the topic of the report were exchanged. Professor Paolucci answered the event participants' questions.
