Iran cancels planned nuclear talks with US in response to Israeli strikes
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has officially cancelled upcoming talks with the United States that were scheduled to take place on June 15 in Muscat, citing Washington’s support for Israel’s recent military actions against Iran.
According to NourNews, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei announced the decision, linking it directly to what Tehran views as US complicity in Israel’s invasion of Iranian territory.
“In the current situation, the main focus of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to counter enemy aggression,” Baghaei said. “The enemies of diplomacy and peace have imposed a brutal war on the Iranian people.”
Baghaei harshly criticised the US for backing what he described as Israel’s assault on Iran’s peaceful nuclear infrastructure. “Despite its statements about diplomacy, the United States has been complicit with Israel in its aggressive actions against the Iranian people,” he declared.
He added that the Islamic Republic sees no point in pursuing dialogue with a nation it believes is actively supporting aggression. “Until Israel completely ceases its actions, dialogue with the country that supports this aggression is meaningless,” the spokesman said.
