Iran confirms fourth round of indirect nuclear talks with US set for Oman
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has confirmed that the fourth round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States over Tehran’s nuclear program will take place in Oman on May 11.
The talks, which are being mediated by the Omani government, mark the continuation of a cautious diplomatic effort to de-escalate nuclear tensions between the two long-time adversaries, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
“Omani friends asked us about Sunday and we expressed our consent,” Araghchi said on his official Telegram channel, indicating Tehran’s agreement to the proposed date.
While the precise time and venue of the upcoming talks remain undisclosed, Araghchi clarified that “the exact time and place of the talks will be determined by the host country,” reinforcing Oman's role as a neutral facilitator in the delicate process.
According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, Tehran formally agreed to hold the next round of discussions in Oman on May 11, building on the format established over the past month. The first round of talks was launched on April 12 in Muscat, followed by a second round in Rome on April 19, and a third session again in Oman on April 26.
The Iranian delegation is being led by Abbas Araghchi, a diplomat involved in prior nuclear negotiations, while the US team is headed by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, a key figure in the US administration.
The ongoing dialogue, although indirect, is widely viewed as a potential stepping stone toward reviving broader nuclear agreements or at least achieving interim understandings aimed at reducing regional tensions and averting escalation.
