Iran contains fires after Israeli drone strikes on South Pars, Fajr Jam refineries
The Iranian Ministry of Oil has announced that a fire at the South Pars Phase 14 Refinery and the Fajr Jam Gas Refinery, caused by an attack from Israel, has been successfully contained through a swift and coordinated response.
The ministry stated that the facilities were targeted this afternoon (June 14) in an attempt to disrupt the country’s energy supply. However, operational teams acted promptly, bringing the situation under full control in the shortest possible time, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
Fire suppression and control efforts commenced immediately after the incident, and stabilisation measures are currently underway to ensure safety and the uninterrupted continuation of refinery activities.
The Ministry of Oil’s Public Relations Department expressed gratitude for the tireless efforts of the oil industry personnel who responded to the emergency. It also urged the public and media outlets to rely solely on official channels for updates and avoid spreading unverified information or rumors related to the incident.
On June 14, Israeli drone strikes hit the South Pars Phase 14 Refinery in Bushehr province, causing explosions and fires at the facility. This refinery is part of the world's largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar. The attack led to the partial suspension of gas production, halting the output of 12 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Simultaneously, the Fajr Jam Gas Refinery in southern Iran was also targeted in the Israeli strikes. The Ministry of Oil confirmed that a fire broke out at this facility as well, but it was quickly brought under control by emergency response teams.
