Iran expands civil aviation fleet with Russian helicopter deal

17 June 2026 21:06

Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of the state corporation Rostec, has signed an agreement to supply 21 civilian Mi-171 helicopters to the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the company’s press service, the deal marks a continuation of ongoing cooperation between the two sides in the aviation sector.

The holding’s CEO Nikolay Kolesov said that Iran is a long-standing partner of Rostec and currently operates dozens of Russian-made civilian helicopters across key sectors of its economy. He noted that the aircraft perform socially significant functions and remain in strong demand in the country.
