Iran FM to attend emergency OIC talks in Istanbul on Israeli strikes

On June 21, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi will attend an emergency OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) meeting in Istanbul amid rising tensions over Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, including the Khondab complex in Arak, according to Iranian media.

Thus, the 51st emergency session of OIC foreign ministers will convene under the chairmanship of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

Discussions are expected to focus on the recent attacks and broader Israeli actions against Iran.

The official session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers will be held on 21–22 June.

Ahead of this, preparatory meetings took place on April 27 and 29 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, bringing together senior officials from across the 57-member bloc.

Türkiye’s Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yılmaz chaired the senior officials’ session, taking over from his Cameroonian counterpart. He delivered opening remarks alongside OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha.

These preliminary meetings aimed to finalise draft resolutions and review policy documents, which will now be presented for endorsement at the ministerial level.
