Iran launches new strikes on UAE, leaving casualties
The United Arab Emirates said on May 8 that its air defence systems intercepted two ballistic missiles and three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran, in an attack that resulted in three moderate injuries.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Defence said that since the beginning of what it described as “blatant Iranian attacks” on the country, its air defences had intercepted a total of 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles and 2,263 UAVs, Caliber.Az reports.

"This brings the total number of injuries to 230, involving multiple nationalities, including Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian, Turkish, Iraqi, Nepali, Nigerian, Omani, Jordanian, Palestinian, Ghanaian, Indonesian, Swedish, Tunisian, Moroccan, and Russian," ministry wrote.
It said the death toll had risen to 13, including three fatalities from a range of civilian and contracted personnel backgrounds, and 10 civilian deaths from nationalities including Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian, Indian and Egyptian.
The ministry said the UAE remained fully prepared to counter any further threats, adding it would “firmly confront” any attempts to undermine the country’s security, sovereignty and stability.
