Iran launches retaliatory attack on US military sites across Gulf
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced a retaliatory operation targeting US military facilities in the region.
According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, a combined missile and drone attack struck what the IRGC described as eight key infrastructure targets at Ali al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait and at the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Port Salman, Bahrain.
“Aggressor enemy, whose very nature is characterized by breaking commitments and violating agreements, attacked five coastal outposts of the Islamic Republic in the early hours of today under the pretext of responding to the IRGC Navy’s confronting a trespassing vessel (in the Strait of Hormuz),” IRGC’s statement read.
The group said the strikes were carried out in response to Washington’s military operation against Iran.
Tehran also warned that any further US military action would be met with a more decisive response and stated that any violation of the ceasefire regime would automatically nullify previously reached agreements.
