Iran plans to launch direct flights between Tehran, Tabriz, and Baku Official confirms
Direct flights between Iran and Azerbaijan are set to begin in the near future, with new routes connecting Tehran and Tabriz to Baku, according to a senior Iranian official.
Amin Taraffo, Advisor to the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran and Director of the Ministry's Centre for International Relations, announced the development in an interview with Iranian media, Caliber.Az reports, citing Trend.
According to Taraffo, flights from Tehran to Baku and back will operate four times per week. The Tabriz–Baku route is planned to run twice a week. He noted that Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation is currently in talks with relevant Azerbaijani authorities to finalise the details. Specialists from both countries are actively working to launch the flights in the near future.
Taraffo emphasised the importance of the new connections in enhancing bilateral cooperation and facilitating easier travel for citizens of both nations.
It should be noted that Iran has 54 civilian airports, 14 of which hold international status. On average, these airports serve approximately 30 million passengers each year.
