Iran preparing gas supply agreement with Russia, envoy says

Iran is preparing a gas supply agreement with Russia, the country’s ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, said on February 13.

Speaking to journalists in Astrakhan, Jalali said negotiations with senior Russian officials had already taken place, and there were no obstacles from Iran’s side, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

“We are currently preparing the agreement. If we sign it, we can begin implementing the project. In terms of technical aspects — pipelines and so on — it will probably take two to three years,” he explained.

Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev said during the 18th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation that first deliveries via existing infrastructure could start in 2025, with volumes reaching up to 1.8 billion cubic metres per year.
