Iran pushes for OIC discussion on Israeli actions amid Haniyeh's death
Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran's Acting Foreign Minister, has arrived in Jeddah to attend an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
According to the Ministry, the initiative to convene the meeting was proposed by Iran following the tragic death of Ismail Haniyeh, chairman of the politburo of the radical Palestinian Hamas movement, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
"On the agenda of the emergency meeting is to investigate the continuation of the crimes of the Zionists (meaning the Israeli authorities) against the Palestinian people and the extent of the aggression of the criminal Zionist regime, which resulted in the death of <...> Ismail Haniyeh and violated the sovereignty and national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
In Jeddah, Bagheri Kani is scheduled to meet OIC Secretary General Hissain Brahim Taha, the Foreign Ministry specified.
