Turkish minister confirms uninterrupted gas flow following compressor station attack

15 January 2025 21:33

Turkish Minister of Energy Alparslan Bayraktar has said that after the attack by Ukrainian forces on the compressor station of the TurkStream gas pipeline, there have been no disruptions to gas flow.

"Following the attack, there have been no issues with gas transportation. The flow of gas through the pipeline continues at the same rate," the minister told journalists in parliament, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

Earlier, Russia accused the US of attempting to disrupt TurkStream, the final pipeline transporting Russian gas to Europe.

At a press conference, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Washington is supporting "terrorist" attacks on Russia's energy infrastructure and suggested that there are intentions to target TurkStream specifically.

“The US does not tolerate competition in any sphere, including energy. They are recklessly endorsing terrorist activities aimed at undermining the energy stability of the European Union,” Lavrov said.

“They are encouraging their Ukrainian proxies to disable TurkStream following the sabotage of Nord Stream,” he added.

Russia claimed to have intercepted and shot down nine Ukrainian drones attempting to strike a section of TurkStream's infrastructure.
