Iran’s IRGC claims missile strike on Haifa industrial sites
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on June 8 that it carried out a missile attack targeting industrial facilities in the Israeli city of Haifa, in response to a U.S.- and Israeli-backed strike on one of Iran’s petrochemical plants.
In a statement, the IRGC said Israel had initiated a “dangerous game” by targeting energy infrastructure and civilian sites, Iran International reports.
It warned that any further escalation of the conflict could extend to energy-related targets across the region and potentially have broader consequences for the global economy.
Earlier in the day an Israeli strike hit the Karoun petrochemical company in the city of Mahshahr in southwestern Khuzestan province.
Day shift workers at the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone were evacuated.
