Iran's president accuses Western powers of enabling Israeli crimes in region
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has condemned the double standards of the United States and certain Western countries, accusing them of emboldening Israel to commit crimes in Gaza and other regional countries, thus endangering peace and security in West Asia and beyond.
Pezeshkian made these remarks during a phone conversation with European Council President Charles Michel on August 11, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
He emphasized Iran’s commitment to supporting peace and security for all nations, stressing that any actions threatening global peace must be stopped.
The Iranian president criticized the US for exerting pressure on countries like Iran and denying them their rights, arguing that such actions are aimed at preventing the emergence of a multipolar world order.
During the call, Michel expressed concern over the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the recognition of an independent Palestinian state.
In addition to the situation in Gaza, Pezeshkian and Michel discussed Iran-Europe relations and explored potential avenues for resuming negotiations to revive the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry stated recently that the death toll in Gaza has reached 39,790 since the war started on October 7 of last year.
A further 91,702 have thus far been wounded in the conflict, the Gazan ministry added.
