Iran's president says gov't ready to heed people's voice, pledges economic reforms
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said his government is ready to heed the people's voice and is determined to continue economic reforms
“We are ready to heed the voice of the people and are determined to continue economic reforms. We call on Iranians to take to the streets to clearly express their demands and not allow instigators of disorder to distort the reasons behind the current protests,” he said in a televised address, excerpts of which were broadcast by Al Mayadeen.
The president noted that most demonstrators are protesting against worsening economic conditions and are not engaging in arson or criminal activities.
Pezeshkian accused the United States and Israel of orchestrating mass unrest in the country: “The unrest in Iran is organised by America and Israel, who give orders to their agents to destabilise the situation."
