Iran’s Raisi welcomes invitation from king to visit Saudi Arabia
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has accepted the invitation of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to visit Riyadh.
According to TASS, the Islamic Republic's Foreign Minister Hosein Amir Abdollahian made the statement in this regard.
"During the recent visit of my colleague His Excellency [Saudi Foreign Minister] Faisal bin Farhan [Al Saud], His Excellency conveyed an official invitation from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Iranian President Mr. Ebrahim Raisi to visit Riyadh," he said at a joint press conference with his Saudi counterpart following talks in Riyadh. The broadcast was carried by the Al Arabiya TV channel.
According to Abdollahian, Raisi "has accepted the invitation and will make the visit at an appropriate time."
Iran's foreign minister arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday. It is his first visit to the kingdom since 2016 when the countries severed diplomatic ties.
