Iran says diplomacy with US will not yield results, cites lack of trust
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has stated that the diplomatic process with the United States cannot produce results as long as Washington continues to violate international commitments and agreements.
The spokesperson noted that Tehran views “destructive actions” and systematic non-compliance with agreements by the US as the main reason for the breakdown in negotiations, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
“The history of negotiations — from the US unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018 to military interventions and crimes over the past two years in the midst of the negotiation process — is evidence of Washington’s anti-diplomatic approach,” Baghaei said.
He also criticised statements made by some international officials, arguing that they do not reflect the real situation. In addition, he pointed to what he described as contradictions in the position of the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, saying that despite direct observation of US sabotage and military actions during talks, he continues to repeat “inaccurate claims” against Iran.
“With the current US administration, no diplomatic process has produced results due to the lack of genuine will from the other side,” he stressed.
Separately, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Iran had received a response from the United States via Pakistan.
He noted that the proposals are under review, but that a significant number of issues — including enrichment and nuclear materials — are still speculative in nature. Baghaei added that the negotiating agenda under discussion relates solely to ending the war.
