Iran signals continued nuclear talks with IAEA amid sanctions standoff
Iran has reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing negotiations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), with another round of talks anticipated in the near future, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced.
Speaking at his weekly press briefing, Baghaei emphasized Tehran’s willingness to take concrete steps to reassure the international community regarding the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, provided that economic sanctions are lifted, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
“We are prepared to adopt a series of measures to provide assurances about the peaceful nature of our nuclear program, conditional upon the removal of oppressive sanctions,” he stated.
Baghaei also addressed rumors of third-party mediation between Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog, firmly rejecting such claims.
“Our relationship with the Agency is direct. Last week, one of its deputies visited Tehran. We also had discussions on drafting a cooperation framework,” he explained. “Our representative in Vienna is in constant contact with the Agency.”
