Russian Security Council to convene under President Putin’s leadership
Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to hold a working meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov announced.
The topic of the meeting will be determined by the president at a later time.
Peskov added that Putin’s schedule for November 21 also includes several non-public working meetings.
He noted that earlier, the Russian leader met with Daniil Yegorov, head of the Federal Tax Service.
Operational meetings with the permanent members of the Security Council are typically held once a week, usually on Fridays. These sessions focus on critical issues spanning multiple areas of national security. For instance, the November 5 meeting addressed transportation security, while the October 31 session focused on ensuring the smooth operation of the defence-industrial complex and implementing additional measures to enhance road safety.
The permanent members of the Security Council include: Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev; Defence Minister Andrey Belousov; FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov; Head of the Presidential Administration Anton Vaino; State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin; Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology, and Transport Sergey Ivanov; Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev; Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov; Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matvienko; Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin; SVR Director Sergey Naryshkin; Presidential Aide Nikolai Patrushev; and Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu.
