Kremlin: Russia ready to help resolve Iran-UAE relations

Russia is ready, if necessary, to assist in resolving relations between Iran and the UAE, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said during a briefing for the Indian press ahead of the BRICS summit.

The summit is scheduled for September 12-13, with Russian President Vladimir Putin also expected to attend, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

According to Peskov, Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will discuss the situation surrounding Iran at their September 11 meeting.

Peskov noted that “India is Russia’s strategic partner, and Moscow expects to develop relations with New Delhi across a wide range of issues.”

“This also concerns economic cooperation: we are increasing the volume of settlements, and currently most of them are carried out in national currencies. Business representatives are adopting this new format of payment operations and feel quite confident using it, so they are determined to further develop this area of cooperation,” he added.

Peskov also said India’s position on Ukraine corresponds with Russia’s position, adding that Moscow welcomes all efforts toward a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, including those by the United States and India.

He further stated that Russia expects the resumption of trilateral talks between Russia, the United States and Ukraine, claiming that “Kyiv does not want the war to end; if it wanted to, the war would have ended long ago.”

He also addressed food security issues, noting that Moscow pays particular attention to this concern and is ready to cooperate with all countries to strengthen it.

“Food security is a very important dimension. Russia was the initiator of the creation of the BRICS Grain Exchange,” Peskov recalled. “We continue this work and continue dialogue with all interested countries.”

He stressed that Russia believes this initiative will contribute to global food security as a whole.
