Iran to expand logistics chains using Azerbaijan’s transit potential
President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that Iran will develop alternative trade corridors, including routes involving Azerbaijan, TASS reports.
Iranian leader emphasised the need to make maximum use of the country’s northern ports, expand alternative trade corridors, and engage the capacities of neighbouring states, including Pakistan, Russia, and Azerbaijan, to ensure the import of essential goods, according to a statement from the president’s office following a meeting with ministers and the head of the Central Bank of Iran.
The meeting reviewed the current situation regarding imports of essential goods, medicines, and other necessary resources, taking into account restrictions at certain southern border crossings.
According to the economy minister’s report, consultations with neighbouring countries have led to the activation and strengthening of several land border checkpoints, as well as alternative transport routes aimed at facilitating and increasing imports.
