Iran to launch new railway lines by end of current calendar year
Iran is expected to launch 561 km of railway lines by the end of the current Iranian year (the year will end on March 20, 2023), Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, General Manager of the Transportation Infrastructure Construction and Development Company Hayrolla Khademi said.
According to Khademi, the construction of these railway lines is already completed by 70 per cent, Trend reports.
Currently, a total of 3,300 kilometres of railway lines are being built in the country. Meanwhile, the length of the country's overall railroads is 14,000 kilometres, Khademi said.
“In addition, 1,035 km of controlled access highways are being built in the country. Of these, 293 km are planned to be put into operation by the end of the current Iranian year. In total, there is 2,800 km of roads with controlled access across the country,” he noted.
Khademi added that a total of 6,100 km of highways are being built in the country, of which 1,000 km are expected to be launched in the current Iranian year.
