Iranian FM: Pakistan’s mediation in US dialogue not failed

15 May 2026 20:30

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Pakistan’s mediation efforts in talks between Iran and the United States should not be considered unsuccessful.

During a press conference in New Delhi, he said the mediation process involving Pakistan has not failed, but it is very difficult, mainly due to the behaviour of the Americans and the mistrust that exists between us, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

Earlier, Araghchi made it clear that Tehran has received a new message from Washington indicating interest in continuing negotiations, despite a recent post by US President Donald Trump describing Iran’s proposal as unacceptable.

According to him, exchanges between Tehran and Washington are ongoing, though progress remains slow.

Araghchi also addressed the issue of Iran’s enriched uranium, explaining why talks have reached an impasse and have been postponed to later stages.

“The issue of our enriched uranium is a very complex one. We have now come to the conclusion with the Americans that, since this issue is extremely difficult and we have practically reached an impasse, it should be postponed to later stages of the negotiations,” he noted.
