Iranian general declares US defeated, unable to act aggressively
A senior adviser to the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Mohammadreza Naghdi, dismissed US military power, saying that “America is defeated and incapable of any aggression.”
Naghdi emphasised that the US would be unable to strike even if it deployed several aircraft carriers to the region, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
“Even if America brings 12 aircraft carriers to the region, it can’t do anything,” Naghdi said.
President Donald Trump publicly stated that a “massive Armada” of US naval forces, led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, was heading toward Iran amid rising tensions over Tehran’s nuclear program and internal unrest.
He framed the movement as part of pressure on Iran to return to negotiations and warned that time was running out for a deal.
Trump’s announcement came on social media and in statements to reporters, where he described the force as larger and more powerful than previous deployments, signalling that the United States was prepared for military action if Iran did not engage constructively.
In urging Tehran to negotiate seriously, Trump tied the naval buildup to broader US diplomatic goals on halting Iran’s nuclear ambitions — even as he insisted Washington hoped the fleet would not ultimately need to be used.
According to recent reports, the American leader is now considering sending a second aircraft carrier strike group to the Middle East if diplomatic efforts fail, underlining ongoing strategic pressure on Tehran.
