11 September 2024 19:28
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has proposed the idea of a borderless union of Islamic states, a concept reminiscent of the formation of the European Union.
During a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart, Pezeshkian emphasised the longstanding friendly relations between Iran and Iraq and called for the creation of a unified alliance among Islamic nations, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
He further suggested the removal of borders among Islamic countries, drawing parallels with the European Union model. Pezeshkian also stated that closer unity among Muslim countries would help neutralise foreign sanctions, highlighting that Muslim solidarity is essential to eradicating Israel’s terrorism.
