Iranian, Omani FMs meet in Geneva as Washington-Tehran negotiations loom Video
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, affirmed Tehran’s commitment to pursuing result-oriented diplomacy to protect what it describes as the legitimate interests and rights of the Iranian people and to help maintain peace and stability in the Middle East.
Araghchi made the remarks on February 16 in Geneva during a meeting with his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, on the eve of Oman-mediated talks between the United States and Iran scheduled for February 17, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
In the bilateral meeting, Iranian officials outlined Tehran’s positions on nuclear issues and the lifting of what Iran calls oppressive US sanctions. Araghchi also expressed appreciation for Oman’s role in facilitating the diplomatic process and reiterated Iran’s determination to engage constructively in the upcoming negotiations.
The Omani foreign minister highlighted the strong ties between Muscat and Tehran, praised Iran’s role in contributing to regional peace, and voiced hope that the current round of talks would reach a successful outcome.
The meeting comes amid renewed diplomatic engagement aimed at addressing longstanding tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and sanctions imposed by the United States.
