Iranian police arrests two individuals for displaying pre-revolution flag VIDEO
Iran’s metro police arrested two men on November 12 after they unfurled the pre-1979 national flag in a Tehran subway station, according to Iranian media.
The pair, dressed in imitation army air defence uniforms, were detained for “disrupting public order.” No names or charges were released, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
A video circulating on social media showed the men displaying the green-white-red flag featuring the Lion and Sun emblem—a banned symbol of the ousted Pahlavi monarchy and a frequent sign of dissent in recent years. Commuters were seen filming as the two posed on the crowded platform.
The flag has re-emerged as a rallying symbol in anti-government demonstrations, from the 2022 Mahsa Amini protests to recent economic unrest, representing calls for secular governance and systemic change.
