Israel arrests two suspected ISIS supporters
Israeli security forces have arrested two men suspected of pledging allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS) and planning to travel abroad for terrorist training, authorities said on December 17.
The suspects were identified as Kinan Azaizeh, a 20-year-old resident of Daburiyya, and a second individual from Acre. They were detained on suspicion of membership in a terrorist organisation and maintaining contact with a foreign agent acting on ISIS’s behalf, Caliber.Az reports via Israeli media.
According to the investigation, the two men had taken preliminary steps toward traveling overseas to receive training and instruction for terrorist activities.
During questioning by Israel’s Shin Bet security service and the Northern District Major Crimes Unit, Azaizeh reportedly confirmed his allegiance to ISIS and expressed willingness to carry out operations on behalf of the group. Investigators said he had considered targeting Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) personnel.
