Israel destroys Lebanon’s Qasmiyeh bridge linking Tyre and Sidon
Israeli air forces carried out two strikes on a bridge over the Litani River in the Qasmiyeh area, severing the last transport link between the city of Tyre and the rest of Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).
“The enemy warplanes carried out two consecutive strikes on the Qasmiyeh bridge, which was the last transport route connecting the areas of Tyre and Sidon. As a result, the bridge was completely destroyed,” the agency said.
According to NNA, Israeli drones had previously targeted vehicles near the bridge before the airstrikes. Preliminary reports indicate that one person was killed in the attacks.
A day earlier, Hezbollah representatives said they were ready to accept a ceasefire provided it is fully respected by the Israeli side. Later, the Ynet news portal reported, citing an Israeli official, that the country’s political-security cabinet did not reach a decision on a ceasefire in Lebanon after a four-hour meeting.
