Israel launches new wave of airstrikes on Iran UPDATED

Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory continued with a fresh wave of attacks striking strategic targets across the country, including Tabriz Airport and military installations near Hamadan. 

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a series of coordinated strikes on June 13, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Israeli media.

Tabriz Airport, which serves both civilian and military aircraft, was among the main targets. The facility is a critical transportation hub for Iran’s East Azerbaijan province and also functions as an airbase for the Iranian Air Force. Powerful explosions were also heard near a military airbase outside Hamadan, further indicating the breadth of the Israeli operation. The strikes were primarily aimed at Iranian surface-to-surface missile systems, a key component of Iran’s military arsenal.

Tabriz city in northwestern Iran has been hit by Israeli airstrikes for the third time in 24 hours. 

Footage showing a fire blazing at one of the targeted sites in the city, confirming the attack, was released, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media. 

Earlier, Iranian media reported that Israeli forces launched strikes on a refinery facility in Tabriz. These were followed by additional attacks during the day on areas near the city’s airport.

On June 13, the military operation launched by Israel against key components of Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure has escalated to a much harsher level. The objective remains the complete elimination of the Islamic Republic’s capability to develop nuclear weapons.

According to the latest data, the Israeli Air Force has struck more than a hundred targets, deploying approximately 200 combat aircraft and over 330 precision-guided munitions, according to official figures. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) emphasises that this is a large-scale, coordinated operation targeting both military facilities and the nuclear programme infrastructure across the entire territory of Iran.
