Iran reports multiple explosions in Bushehr following US attacks
U.S. projectiles struck four locations in Iran’s southwestern city of Bushehr on Tuesday afternoon, according to an Iranian provincial official, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
Ehsan Jahanian, Bushehr’s deputy governor for political and security affairs, told the state-run IRNA news agency that the strikes targeted separate areas across the city. “Four locations in the city of Bushehr were struck by hostile projectiles this afternoon,” Jahanian said, adding that no casualties had been reported.
Residents in Bushehr and the nearby area of Choghadak reported hearing multiple explosions, Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency said. Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB also reported that five explosions were heard west of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran.
Earlier on Tuesday, U.S. Central Command said it had completed its latest wave of strikes against military targets across Iran. The command said the operations included locations in Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa and Bandar Abbas.
The reported strikes come amid heightened tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route, following the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, 2026.
Washington has conducted a series of strikes in recent days, saying they were carried out in response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The escalation follows a memorandum of understanding signed by Washington and Tehran in June 2026, which included a ceasefire brokered by Qatar and Pakistan as a step toward a broader agreement to end the conflict. However, U.S. President Donald Trump said on July 8 that the ceasefire “is over” after renewed hostilities.
